Telo Martius (France)

Telo Martius was a harbour in the south part of France near the present city of Toulon. The city was founded by the Romans (responding to a request by the citizens of Massilia (Marseille)) in the second century BC, for maintaining peace in the Mediterranean Sea.

During the Roman Empire Telo Martius was famous for dye manufacturing, including the color purple used for imperial clothes.
