Tarracina

TerracinaForoEmilianoViaAppia wikipedia MM 1200

Tarracina (modern Terracina) is a municipality in the Italian province of Latina located on the coast and Via Appia, about 56 kilometers southeast of Rome. Tarracina was located at a fairly strategic point: namely where the Volsci hills flow into the Tyrrhenian Sea and, according to Livius, was a "urbs prona in paludes" (a city surrounded by swamps = the Pontine swamps).
