The floor of the room of statio 58 didn't survive. According to L.B. van der Braak (Ostia speaks-Peeters, Leuven, 2012) and J.Th. Bakker (www.ostia-antica.org) there was a floor in the room dating from the Claudian period and showing plants and instruments for the rope making. Between them should have been the characters S and R short for:
S(tuppatores) R(estiones)
Makers of/traders in hemp, (and) rope-makers
Under the colonnade is a black and white geometrical pattern in the mosaic floor.
Today there isn't a clue of the owners of this office or their trade anymore
